- Hi Geo.
Your rave about ZPZ was no exaggeration. When I heard it I had tickets to the Brisbane (Aus) show. The long set list was unbelievable. I thought they must have gone all out for a NY halloween show, but ours was just as good. BTW, we weren\'t just treated to Raw White (can\'t get Illinois Enema Bandit out of my head), but Steve Vai too (for a bit, including a magical City of Tiny Lights). G-spot Tornado was the best. - Quick point of order. The conversation that Brolo and Tee had was in a public space where neither of them should have had an expectation of privacy. I am not admitted to the Bar in CA but I don\'t believe that any law was broken. That said it appearred from the conversation as it was played on KATG that the two principals involved had their conversation and it was over. The Parody was funny. Hopefully Keith and George are working this through backchannels since I think George would make for an interesting guest on the show.
- George,
\"Padre Bingo visits \"The Ken and She Show\" had me laughing out loud. I love Brother Love, I think he has alot of marketing qualities that other musicians could benefit from. Another great marketing move? Poking fun at KATG - A great way to get listeners.
Keep up the great work. I really enjoyed the passion of the Zappa review. Slau rocks.
Be careful with your heart my friend. You seem to be moving very fast.

P.S. HA HA HA HA You\'re So Funny. - REALLY good call. Start a war with KATG. Now some folks will listen to your show. Well, I\'ll listen to any parts of your show that get broadcast on katg anyways. Make a more creative skit next time though, i got bored. Anyways I like how your katg episode is going to always be your most popular. I suggest you make more.
Douche. - I feel compelled to offer my two cents at this point, if only to mitigate the unrelenting bad manners.
In his review of Robert Altman\'s masterpiece, Short Cuts, Roger Ebert points out the overlapping nature of stories and lives. He describes a scenario and posits, \"If you knew the whole story in this world, there\'d be a lot less to be angry about.\"
Interesting. It\'s a perspective that\'s very healthy, very balanced. The Maestro has always been of this mind, actually, and, truth be told, has been a good example for me in situations where I\'d rather just judge and move on.
If you don\'t know the whole story, what you don\'t know might very much re-shape your opinion.posted by: Ms. Information for the Geologic Universe on 2007-11-14 22:16:00
- Illegal? IMMORAL? give me a fucking BREAK.
You people are blowing things way out of proportion. It wasn\'t some \"poor guy\" that was tricked into the situation. I believe it was obvious everyone at the convention was recording for various podcasts.
\"Surely they don\'t take themselves so seriously that they can\'t handle a bit of (well crafted and intelligent) parody focused at them?\"
Well crafted and intelligent?!! WHAT? I made better skits in my basement when i was 10 years old. This cast could at least take the time to TRY to make fun of someone if that\'s what they really want to do.
Don\'t quit your day job. All I\'m sayin\'. - @ Stupid Reality,
I\'d tend to agree with you, but no one has brought up Hitler yet.
If you\'re not familar with the Hitler Theorem, it\'s when a discussion has become a flame war, and the first side that makes a comparison of the other side to Hitler, loses.
However, there really isn\'t a flame \"war\" going on here per se, just a bunch of angry KATG fans, and us pretty much ignoring them unless they are bringing up salient points that can actually be argued with.
Speaking of...
@ FU: Yes, you do have a point in that some places it\'s legal to record another person without their knowledge. According to what I can find online, New York is a state where it\'s OK to record a conversation if only one party consents to it.

- George this must be the most hits your site has ever received. Well played but this was indeed a bitch move. Is this your way of taking a number to get on the SoccerGirl ride? Oh wells, just know that you got Brolo\'s (and hundreds of others\') seconds! Just remember you asked for this. Hopefully you can parlay this into maybe scoring a role as the next Mr. Clean.
- I know I shouldn\'t feed the trolls, but with the new show this comment thread is obsolete (and to be honest I can\'t help myself).
I\'ve been reading these comments all week and thy all seem to boil down to the same thing:
\"Wah! Wah! George is a big meany pants! Boo hoo! Just because KATG make fun of everyone doesn\'t mean that it\'s alright to be mean to *them*! Wah! Wah! It\'s not mean if you use people\'s real names like KATG do! Wah! Wah! Blah, blah, whatever.\"
You\'re just making yourselves look like childish fools. Get over it. - I was there that night. I know what happened. You are way off. If you\'re really that upset about what went down, how about addressing it directly, like a man, instead of playing some junior high production parody which just displays all of your own insecurities.
Brother Love rocked that hall with one song more than any of the previous musicians combined. You all had to face that fact. In fact, later CC and Matt, Emile, etc played together WITH BroLo. They didn\'t seem to have a problem but yet you had to add Padre Bingo playing \"near the fire exit\". Was including that part really necessary? Jealous much?
As for the conversation, like I said, I was there. I know what happened. It was a short heated conversation. That\'s it.
If you\'re so worried about the legality of it, then surely someone would have pressed charges or sued or filed a complaint or SOMETHING. Instead, nothing. So what now? Do we discuss it like men or do we just shrug our shoulders and pretend it never happened?

Daniel - Yep- it had to happen! Straight into the gutter. Mudslinging, name calling and swearing; the trifecta. I suppose the previous poster, which the oh so clever name would enjoy someone recording his/her conversation covertly? I'd be kind of embarrassed if I was KATG to have this person as a fan.
- Keith and Chemda could shit out a better parody. Find yourself some balls (maybe you left them in a mason jar under SoccerGirl's kitchen sink) and say their names. They do it all the time on their show.
Also, in some states recording someone without their knowledge is legal. George is actually just mad because BroLo has hair, and has actually had physical contact with SoccerGirl. - Hi Stupid Reality, I'm not going to make myself find it again, but here is what happened. The situation was that BLo and KATG played a secret recording (ie he didn't know about it) of some poor guy BLo argued with at a convention, and then all three of them got their giggles out of making fun of him. Secret recording is indeed illegal and just morally bankrupt. If it had been me I would have sued them until their eyeballs bled just for my own amusement.
So really, climbing on their high horse about how Geo has no right to make his skillful parody is just a bit too like glasshouses, stones and such. At least he didn't record from inside a 'friend's' pants. - If the problem is with Brother Love - why bring Keith and The Girl into it? Just because he\'s on their show often? I don\'t know the details of your problem with Brother Love so I can\'t say anything in regards to that, but my \"unprovoked\" comment was relating to the portrayal of Keith and The Girl.
- BW:
I think it\'s very good of you to own up to your ruse and I appreciate that you posted again. I\'m not going to address the content of your remark, but I do want to thank you for speaking to us and not at us.

- This whole thing started because of something underhanded that BLo did, something not only illegal but immoral. So KaTG can obviously dish it out but not take it. OK to harpoon other people but when they are the target of a well crafted skewering they throw their hands up in the air and squeal. When you base you whole show on making fun of others you better learn how to toughen up. Hypocrisy is so very amusing.
- @Ms. Information
Yep - my cover is blown. I lied everyone. Shed a tear but I\'m trying to prove a point that unprovoked attacks on other podcasts is not going to win George any new fans - it could do the opposite. I genuinely heard about Keith and The Girl through another show a couple years ago who bagged them in a passing comment. I checked them out and realized how much better their cast is. I\'m not coming on here saying, \"KATG rock and fuck you guys\" because everyone likes different things but I think it\'s pretty low to bag another podcast for no other reason than to garner some attention. I can completely understand retaliating if they had said something derogatory towards George in the first place, but they didn\'t. - @Ms. Information
Nice.
@Ross
I hear you, though they\'re kind of more like drive-by trolls than the regular kind. Makes you want to swat at them like flies.
Heh. I did the same thing. \"Why would he want to lug a guitar along to the - oh. Right.\" [slaps own head]
So is it real? Like you said, every thing except the fake bits.
@CarrieP
Gay for the crew of Serenity? Sounds fair ;) - wow. a lot has happened since the first time I listened to this episode. I have a few questions.
1- For the intellectually inept (such as myself) would you answer your question. I\'m bad at following clues and I don\'t look at SG\'s eyes or hands that closely
2- Doesn\'t SG already have a bf named Ryan?
3- Does Geo\'s conscience (based on pure logic and his own sense of morality, not on any religious principle) stops him from trying to woo another man\'s girl?
4- Why is geo making me into such a gossip monger? I was ok when it was just zany nuttiness and the occasional \"religious moron of the week\". Now this extra layer of intrigue has me at the edge of my seat. It has even made me start listening to SG\'s podcast but she doesn\'t make any references about a possible relationship. Instead she talks about what Ryan and her are doing to raise money for their podcast.
Please relieve me of my burden with some satisfying answers :) - bw:
You must have become quite the fan at Keith and the Girl. The time frame you mention here could not have been more than a week. And in that time you\'ve posted on their forum 693 times. Very artful skeleton avatar, by the way.
Regards,
Ms. Information - I\'d never heard of Keith and The Girl till I heard the \"Ken and She\" skit on your show. After the reading the comments here I had to check them out.
Wow.
Your podcast is a fucking joke compared to them. Thanks for putting me onto their podcast - one episode was funnier than the last 5 of yours put together.
From an ex-fan. - Ahem, I don\'t want to cut too heavily into the trollwar that\'s been raging above, but does anyone want to have a paul-is-dead-esque discussion of George\'s love life?
So far we know that something is happening and that its all real except for what is fake. Some people after show 37 suspected it may be SoccerGirl but until show 39 there was ambiguity on this point. However, at the end of the Zappa segment George mentions that Dweezil was playing an SG guitar. He then says that he wishes he had his own SG there with him. For the space of about three seconds I thought about how cumbersome it would be to bring a guitar to a concert, not to mention just plain silly. Then George says \"I wished that someone else were there with me\". The someone else being the SG he wanted with him at the superlative moments. Indeed. Further proof: if you play the seemingly Ukrainian introduction backwards and slowed down by 25 percent you can plainly hear George Hrab saying \"SoccerGirl is the one. SoccerGirl is the one. Googoogoojoob.\" He then emits some satanic chants and giggles. At least that\'s what it sounded like to me.
So, I think the question is, now that we know he\'s hinting at a relationship with SoccerGirl, is this for real or is it an \"affair\" between two stars of the podosphere similar to those acted out between the stars of early Hollywood to promote their movies?
There certainly has been some controversy over Mr. Hrab\'s sexuality. An source who only gave the name \"...\" made accusations that Hrab was gay, though he did not disclose where he gained this information from. Hrab himself responded to these accusations with a powerful denial of being a homosexual, threatening to \"bite\" Mr.\"...\" in the neck if he were to ever make such an accusation to Hrab\'s face. However, later along in the very same podcast in which these denials were made, Hrab was heard to say \"delicious cock\", and then went on to an extensive discussion on homosexual double entendres in - Just so everyone knows...
I\'ve been contacted by KATG, or at least someone pretending to be from KATG, and have GLADLY agreed to talk to them on their turf. They have not gotten back to me. I assume Mariana/MeMe Cherry DOES indeed book guests for their show?
Dunno.
Whatever.
Waiting...
but could honestly give a shit either way.
FUN!

oh- and spell check is an INCREDIBLE invention. - Krystal:
Please revisit the definition of parody. Also, you might want to discover the wealth of information you can achieve by using Google.
If you do a search on Alexa, you\'ll want to use the correct spelling of Mr. Hrab\'s name. You\'ll see hundreds of links. I can understand your consternation as Keith\'s rendition of his name- Rhab- only yields a few results.
For more data- specifically links to Mr. Hrab\'s five albums at CD Baby or iTunes, reviews in international magazines, or a copy of his CV- please feel free to contact me.

Ms. Information - @Krystal
Since when has popularity *ever* equated to quality? Look at American Idol.
Oh, and it\'s generally customary to capitalise (or capitalize if you\'re American) the first letter of the first word of a sentence. But only if you want to be taken seriously.
KATG don\'t seem to be too shy about dishing the shit out. Surely they don\'t take themselves so seriously that they can\'t handle a bit of (well crafted and intelligent) parody focused at them?
Good grief. - Did someone say Information?
Subsonix- Allow me to help here. I think you mean you\'re weak... not your weak. The first is a contraction. The second denotes possession.
PadreBingo- Oh, I think you do know that the parody does, in fact, make sense. Saying it doesn\'t, doesn\'t make it so. By the way, you might also be interested in Episode 32.
Professor CarrieP- Thank you so much for the exposition. Impressive.
bowling for pyros- We do not erase commenters\' posts here. We might erase duplicates for readability\'s sake, but we welcome everyone\'s opinion. The next time you report to Keith, please have your facts straight. And I seriously mean this: why do you people not understand the definition of parody?
Thank you all for posting.
-Ms. Information - There are two distinctive types of parody: direct parody and style parody.
Direct parody is when the person being parodied is directly referenced. Most Wierd Al songs, like \"Fat,\" and \"Jurrasic Park\" are direct parodies.
Style parody is when the person being parodied is not directly referenced, but the style or character of their work is referenced. Some Wierd Al songs, like \"Dare to be Stupid,\" \"Young Dumb and Ugly,\" and \"Why does this Always Happen to me?\" parody Devo, Guns & Roses, and Ben Folds, respectively.
Frankly, style parodies are subtler, more interesting, and often funnier than direct parodies. Style parodies assume that the listener has a certain level of intelligence to \"get\" the joke, and doesn\'t have to be hit over the head with whom is being parodied
e.g. i.e. a.s.a.p. m.v.p and rstln and e,
Professor CarrieP - So how come you can do a \"Geo\'s Soccergirl impression\" but have to hide behind a \"Padre Bingo visits \"The Ken and She Show\"\"...
try this site to get a bottle to replace the one you\'ve lost.

- If your going to call out another podcaster, at least have the balls to name names... Are you scared that your listeners are going to listen to Keith and the Girl and realize that they like it better? I have nothing against your opinion or your podcast, just don\'t be a pussy..
- Funny thing, I just started listening to Keith and the girl to get an idea of what they are about and one of the episodes had Brother Love in it and this parody sounded almost exactly like that episode, only there was a lot more laughter from \"she\" in the real one. So do you have a thing against their kind of humor? I think they\'re both pretty funny (and by that i mean types of humor).
- Thanks for saving me from being a prick. My filter doesn\'t work sometimes. But...I am a non-politically correct guy in a politically correct world.
You make me so regret not going to the Zappa plays Zappa show here in Seattle. But it came thru at Xmas time and I was mucho busy. \'Tis true that I am not the rabid Zappa fan you are but I appreciate the guys talent. Amazing!
I need a friend like Slau who can drag me out to the great shows. You are so lucky! - Wow, what an interesting show. I had no idea Geo had a beef with KATG. I must say, he\'s spot on with this parody. He nailed the interactions between Ken, she and Brolo. it\'s a very misogynistic show. BUT it is sometimes funny... I only fear that this may bring retribution. KATG fans can and have been very vengeful. Well, if we go to war, i know what side I\'m on.
as far as the \"moments\" for me musically it was REM\'s Document. that album, blew me away. and much to the dismay of my parents, was the catalyst to my drumming career. and me spending $8000 on a custom made pearl world series set. (bah, who needed college!?!)
for movies, it was poltergeist. that movie fucked me up. it wasn\'t the ghosts, monsters or clown. it was that TREE! my grandmother had one just like it in her yard, and for years i was scared it wanted to eat me.
But anyway, good show as usual. can wait till next week. Oh, any chance we can get some details about the romantic going-ons behind the scenes? or is that to personal? It\'s just I\'m sure your fans would love to know the cause of your happiness of late!
ok, talk to ya next week...
-Your loyal listener - Reggie is probably too humble to mention this, but he and Calvin have just produced Episode 4 of \"Something, Something Podcasts\" and it\'s part one of film commentary. I haven\'t listened to it yet.. but oh, I will. And may I just add, that I have been personally mentioned on his cast. [Oh Mr. Hrab has, too. Yes- whatever.] Reggie- that made my day.
- Marvin-
A great place to start your Zappa voyage (as I did) is with the 6 volume \"You Can\'t Do That On Stage Anymore\" series. This set was why I bought a CD player, way back in the mesozoic. It\'s 30 years worth of LIVE Zappa recordings, featuring EVERY band, and EVERY band member he ever worked with. As you find what eras you like, you can go and investigate the corresponding albums. It\'s the best BEST OF you could hope to find, and at over 14 hours, there\'s plenty to occupy your time. Start with Volume One.
AND-
Some stylistic ideals are Ringo\'s drum sound at the end of Strawberry Fields, Johnny Guitar Watson screaming \"ANDY!\" at the end of \"Andy\" on Zappa\'s One Size Fits All, the backing vocals on Talking Head\'s \"Crosseyed and Painless\", and the the final \"...mine\" on Slau\'s \"How Do I Make You Mine.\"
Ahhh... I just keep trying to approach some of those..
Great question!
I\'ll come up with some more and talk about \'em on the show.
Anyone else have some MOMENT moments? Perhaps on film too?
Geo - CarrieP said: \"...other than me checking manically for the new episode every 15 minutes starting at 10AM.\"
I\'m so happy to know I\'m not the only stalker hanging out here.
Geo -- great show! I have some questions!
Ask Geo #1:
Geo, where should a Frank Zappa n00b start if he wants to start listening to Zappa\'s music? I have to confess I\'ve never gotten around to it, and you\'ve made me curious to try him out.
Ask Geo #2:
When I was 11 years old and living deepest, sandiest west Texas, my introduction to rock and roll arrived in the form of Queen\'s soundtrack to the movie _Flash Gordon_. Ever since I\'ve been a huge fan of Queen, and lately I\'ve realized that I have in my brain a sort of Platonic ideal of what a rock guitar solo should sound like: it should sound like Brian May\'s guitar solo over the end credits to that movie. This isn\'t a rational evaluation of different musical styles, it\'s just that I\'ve imprinted somehow on that particular sound.
Similarly, my ideal of what an R&B rhythm section should sound like is (probably) Booker T and the MGs (even though that\'s more than just a rhythm section, strictly speaking).
Do you have any similar \"Platonic ideals\" in music or other forms of expression?
