John Wayne's is right is probably and indeed related to a hyper-conservative worldview, especially this quote:
“Women have the right to work wherever they want, as long as they have the dinner ready when you get home”. John Wayne

Hearing the references to "John Wayne is right" in this podcast reminded me of the spoken word introduction to the song "Pleasures of the Harbor" from Phil Ochs's concert album, There and Now, Live in Vancouver, 1968.

In his introduction, Phil waxes nostalgic about the movies he grew up watching, including many John Wayne movies (including The Long Voyage Home, which he said inspired the song in question). In the introduction, he laments that "a lot of America's truly greatest artists were very right wing and reactionary and ... not particularly intelligent. But they're still great..."

"John Wayne is right" echoes of a hyper-conservative worldview.

Also, with regard to the religious moron of the week this week, it seems as though the points for which he is being considered a moron are mere conjecture and not actually the reasons why he hasn't moved into his mansion.

Perhaps the selection of John Wayne was purposefully random just to elicit confused reactions?
